Because no pop superstar works quite like Taylor Swift, her latest album “The Life of a Showgirl” has turned into a full-scale cultural phenomenon, one that’s rewriting music history once again.

According to initial data from Luminate, Showgirl sold 2.7 million copies in the US within just 24 hours of its Oct. 3 release. The number represents Swift’s biggest week ever and the second-largest sales week for any album since electronic tracking began in 1991.

Only Adele’s 25, which moved 3.8 million copies in its 2015 debut week, has sold more.

Swift also achieved a new milestone in the vinyl era, selling 1.2 million vinyl copies of Showgirl, the most ever sold in a single week.

She broke her own previous record set earlier this year when “The Tortured Poets Department” sold 859,000 vinyls in its first week.

The pop icon’s record-breaking spree didn’t stop there. Within just half a day of release, Spotify confirmed that Showgirl had earned the most single-day streams of any album in 2025.

Apple Music reported similar results, naming it the most-streamed album of the year on the platform, while Amazon Music revealed it as their most-streamed album of all time in a single day.

To mark the release, Swift held a limited theatrical celebration titled “Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl,” which topped the Oct. 3–5 box office during its run.

But beyond the numbers, “The Life of a Showgirl” also showcases a deeply personal chapter in Swift’s story. On the album, she appears to be “betrothed to Travis Kelce and married to the hustle,” offering listeners a glimpse into the balance between love and ambition that fuels her artistry.

Fans were quick to note multiple “New Heights” references, an affectionate nod to Kelce’s podcast with his brother Jason, and a surprise duet with Sabrina Carpenter closing out the record.

For her 12th studio album, Swift reunited with Swedish hitmakers Max Martin and Shellback, the creative forces behind some of her biggest pop eras.
