A teenage boy has been stabbed to death after a fight spilled out of a house party in Hackney.

Police were called after a large group of people with machetes were seen on Towpath Walk shortly after 7.15pm on Monday, with some callers suggesting they had also heard gunshots.

The young victim was found with stab wounds in nearby Poplar Close, but despite the efforts of medics from both the land and air ambulance, he was declared dead at the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Ben Massink said: ‘Our thoughts remain with the victim and his family – we are working at pace to ensure all his loved ones are informed and offered specialist support from officers.
