Three more men have been charged after violence erupted at a Southampton protest over the murder of Henry Nowak.

The total number of protesters charged following the anti-police protests is now 14.

A 16-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder but released on bail, pending further enquiries.

Four other men have been arrested by police on suspicion of violent disorder, aged between 18 and 45 years old.

The violent protests followed the sentencing of Vickrum Digwa for the murder of Henry Nowak, after police wrongfully arrested him for racism.

The protest began outside Southampton Central Police Station before moving outside Digwa’s house, where demonstrators were protesting Hampshire Police’s handling of the murder of Henry Nowak.

They turned violent, with bricks, fence panels, industrial bins, chairs, and traffic cones thrown at officers as unrest continued into the night.

Hampshire police confirmed three more men have now been charged in connection with the incident.

Darren Medhurst, 36, of Carnation Road, Southampton, has been charged with violent disorder.

Jordan Hambleton, 19, of Rollesbrook Gardens, Southampton, has been charged with the same offense, along with Callum Darch, 27, of St Blaize Road, Romsey.

They have all been remanded into custody and are due to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

In addition, Hampshire Constabulary confirmed that an 18-year-old man, a 34-year-old man, and a 45-year-old man, all from Southampton, and a 41-year-old man from Basingstoke, have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and remain in custody.

A 16-year-old girl from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and has been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.

Eleven people have appeared in court so far in connection with the violence.
