Supernatural horror and mystery releases are in abundance this Halloween season.
As true crime documentaries and adaptations like “The Perfect Neighbor” and “Monster: The Ed Gein Story” bask in the October spotlight, there are just as many new movies and series about missing people, strange incidents and more to choose from.

‘The Woman in Cabin 10’ (Netflix, Oct. 10)
This mystery thriller stars Keira Knightley as Lo Blacklock, a journalist on assignment on a luxury yacht where she is witness to a possible murder. The film reached the top spot of most-watched Netflix movies in the Philippines.

‘The Hand that Rocks the Cradle’ (Disney+ and Hulu, Oct. 22)
This remake of the 1992 film stars Mary Elizbeth Winstead and Maika Monroe in a story of miscarriage and revenge.
‘Harlan Coben’s Lazarus’ (Prime Video, Oct. 22)
This six-part Harlan Coben mystery series stars Sam Claflin as a forensic psychiatrist who begins having unexplainable experiences after his father’s death.

‘Host’ (Prime Video, Oct. 23)
An all-girls reform school on a remote island is the site of disturbing incidents in this Thai horror film.
‘Weapons’ (HBO Max, Oct. 24)
The widely successful horror film stars Julia Garner as an elementary school teacher whose students vanish on the exact same night.
‘It: Welcome to Derry’ (HBO Max, Oct. 26)
A prequel to the films “It” (2017) and “It Chapter Two” (2019), this series brings the “It” universe to Derry, Maine in 1962, where many children start to disappear.
