The UK recorded 146 Covid deaths on Tuesday – its highest total since March 12.
The dramatic increase in daily deaths was not matched by new cases, with the country reporting 23,510 infections.
It brings the UK’s respective totals since the pandemic began 130,503 deaths and 6,117,540 confirmed Covid-19 cases.
