Donald Trump’s administration has done many outlandish acts since he returned to power last year.
This week it has launched a new portal to track ‘aliens’ across the US.
At first glance, this could seem to relate to the government’s pledge to release classified UFO files, detailing sightings and reports of extraterrestrial activity since the Second World War.
But the ‘aliens’ referred to on this new webpage are not from outer space, but migrants from planet Earth arrested by ICE officers.
Step onto the new website and you a greeted by a green strapline: ‘They walk among us’.
It then continues: ‘For 60 years, the U.S. government has kept a closely guarded secret.
‘Aliens have been walking among us, living in our neighborhoods, and interacting with us in our daily lives.
‘They’ve shopped in the same stores, attended the same classes as our children, and lived seemingly normal human existences.
‘With one exception — they do not belong here.
‘Millions arrived under the cover of darkness and embedded themselves directly into our society.
‘Countless presidents, congressmen, and senior officials knew exactly what was happening.
‘Instead of protecting American citizens, they chose to cover it up and even accelerate the invasion.
‘Until one man finally had the courage to tell the truth.’
The site includes a map of the US with red markings plotting every arrest of a migrant, with the largest concentrations in Texas, Florida and the east coast.
In the entry of New York the website cites 3,650 migrant arrests since January 22, 2025, involving nationals from dozens of countries, including Belarus, the Philippines and Spain.
Laredo, a city in Texas near the Mexican border has one of the largest arrest figures, at 5,921, mostly consisting of South American migrants.
They are for a litany of offenses, from ‘commercialised sexual offenses’ to traffic offenses.
The site also includes a ticker counting the number of ‘encounters’ which, at the time of writing, add up to 3,130,175.
Some of the ‘aliens’ are even from the UK, including British nationals arrested in Miami and Jacksonville, Florida, and San Diego, California.
Residents can sign up to the site in order to ‘stay informed of alien encounters in your area’ and includes a link to the ICE tip line to ‘report suspicious aliens’.
Another message assures readers to ‘not be alarmed’ if they see an ‘alien abduction’, adding they are in ‘good hands’.
‘We will take care of it… and return it safely to its place of origin’, it says, referring to a migrant as ‘it’ rather than ‘them’.
The use of the term ‘aliens’ to describe migrants or minorities has plenty of history and echoes some of humanity’s darkest moments.
It was the very word infamously used in a question in a Nazi maths textbook in 1933: ‘The Jews are aliens in Germany. In 1933, the German Reich had 66,060,000 inhabitants, of whom 499,682 were Jews. What is the percentage of aliens?’
On Thursday, the Trump administration said it had filed lawsuits against four states for refusing to issue confidential license plates to ICE agents.
It said it had taken legal action against Maine, Massachusetts, Oregon and Washington as the states’ policy was threatening the safety of immigration agents.
Democratic Massachusetts governor Maura Healey said her state would not support ICE’s ‘unconstitutional tactics’.
She said: ‘We are not going to use state resources to help ICE operate in secret, and without accountability, while refusing to provide basic information about who they are arresting and why.’
