VANCOUVER — After holding high-level talks, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney made a stop at a popular Jollibee branch in downtown Vancouver Thursday, greeting staff and members of the Filipino Canadian community.
Marcos and Carney toured the restaurant on Granville Street, where they chatted with employees, looked over the menu and posed for photos with staff and the chain’s iconic mascot.

Opened on Feb. 25, 2022, the Granville Street location was the first of four Jollibee branches in British Columbia and is among the chain’s 28 stores across Canada.
Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, it has become a popular gathering spot for Filipino Canadians.
Despite intermittent drizzle, dozens of Filipino Canadians lined up outside the restaurant hoping to catch a glimpse of the two leaders as they arrived under tight security.
Across the street, protesters led by the Canada chapter of Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan), staged a demonstration for a second consecutive day since Marcos arrived in Vancouver, chanting anti-government slogans as the president entered and left the restaurant.
Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos are scheduled to meet with business leaders and members of the Filipino Canadian community in Vancouver on Friday.
