LA Metro detoured buses around the LA Live area and ride share vehicles that have been targets of vandals in the past were kept away.
When the crowds grew, the LAPD issued dispersal orders at Chick Hearn Court and 11th Street, and at Sunset Boulevard and Echo Park Avenue, telling people to leave or be subject to arrest.
ABC7 broadcast celebrations on Van Nuys Boulevard in Pacoima where fans lit fireworks and drove donuts in the street. Fireworks were also set off downtown, in Echo Park, in Little Tokyo and East Los Angeles.
Will Smith homered in the top of the 11th inning as the Dodgers completed their first successful defense of a World Series championship with a 5-4 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 7 Saturday night in Toronto.
The Dodgers had tied the score with one out in the top of the ninth on a home run by their No. 9 hitter, Miguel Rojas, after trailing 3-0 on Bo Bichette’s third-inning home run off Shohei Ohtani.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto (5-1) pitched the final 2 2/3 innings for the victory, one day after he pitched six innings in the Dodgers’ 3-1 victory in Game 6. Yamamoto pitched out of a bases-loaded one-out jam in the bottom of the ninth.
